We develop and maintain the infrastructure for an effective integration process. We make recommendations to the movement on effective integration strategies and we develop all kinds of means that support the integration process.
Below you can read in detail what tasks we perform. These tasks are divided among the different sub-circles, for more information see the pages of the sub-circles under the heading 'Our circle structure. '
Extinction Rebellion has a network of integrators. Integrators operate within this network at local and national level.
The integration circle supports these integrators through:
We are constantly making contact and maintaining contact with all parts of Extinction Rebellion. The aim is to map and optimise information flows. This is how we improve the integration process. We make it easier for new rebels to find the right place in the movement and ensure that local groups, community groups and national circles have a supply of interested rebels.
The integration circle is responsible for monitoring the process through which rebels find their way within Extinction Rebellion. It's important to us that new rebels get all the help they need to find their way within Extinction Rebellion and that they feel welcome and well informed. We are exploring how to make integration more accessible, inclusive and flexible. Through surveys and evaluations among new rebels and integrators, we get a clear picture of the integration process and its points of improvement.
Rebels within the integration circle provide the information that pertains to integration and keep it up to date. Visitor to the website interested in participating can quickly find their way within the movement through this information. Two important sources are the Getting Started page and the Integrator Guide. The Getting Started page is intended for new rebels and the Integrator Guide is intended for integrators.
To register, new rebels use the registration forms on the website. The integration circle, in collaboration with the tech circle, keeps this form up to date. The form is intended to provide new rebels with a simple way to register and to connect the new rebel to the right integrator.
Some of us also personally take on the role of integrator. Integrators welcome new rebels and help them find their place within the movement. The integration circle has set up the "Welcoming New Rebels" workshop to train integrators to welcome and integrate new rebels.
While you're here. We have a huge shortage of integrators. If you would like to help as an integrator, please send an email to welcome@extinctionrebellion.nl or to Mattermost to @tim-xr so we can take care of a workshop with you personally!
For keeping track of the integration status of rebels, we use the XR CRM. This is a platform that allows us to guide new rebels in a structured and clear way. The system is set up and maintained in collaboration with the tech circle. Some members of the integration circle are responsible for the user administration of the system.
Ambitions and plans enough. Such as:
We need all the help we can get. It doesn't matter if you can spend an hour a week or forty hours. If you would like to be involved in integration matters, please contact us at welcome@extinctionrebellion.nl or via one of the contacts that are located later on this page.
Furthermore, if you have any ideas on how the integration circle and/or integration across the Netherlands could improve, please feel free to contact us! We are open to fresh ideas!
The structure consists of the integration circle with sub-circles and working groups below.
At present, the national integration circle has a number of sub-circles.
Introduction to XR training - More information
It is important that new rebels get a good introduction to Extinction Rebellion. What does XR stand for, how exactly are we organized and how can you contribute? This sub-circle develops this training and ensures that it is given regularly.
XR CRM - For more information
In collaboration with the Tech Circle, a subcircle has been started to develop a software system to help integrators integrate. XR CRM is a cloud application that we host ourselves and which allows integrators to integrate new rebels in a clear and structured way. It offers extensive filteroptions and a clear overview of all rebels that are integrated within a local group. Cooperation and transfer is easier and privacy is better guaranteed.
Rebellensupport - More information
Not only do new rebels need to be integrated locally, but new rebels are also needed in the national organisation. The rebel support circle ensures that there is a group of integrators that can integrate rebels nationwide. The rebel support circle also manages the welcome@extinctionrebellion.nl email and helps rebels who fall through the cracks, have questions or are not helped in other places find their way.
There are also a number of working goals in which members of the Integration Circle work together with rebels from other circles:
Website Renewal
This is a working group that started in autumn 2022 and gives the Dutch Extinction Rebellion website a much needed makeover.
Mobility Support for Local Groups (MSLG) - CURRENTLY INACTIVE
This group sets up and maintains contact between all local groups in the Netherlands and supports them in increasing their reach, improving integration and providing integration training.
We use different means of communication and Mattermost channels. Below are the public channels sorted by circle, sub-circle and working group.

Meetings of the main circle take place weekly on Thursday from 20:30 to 21:30. These meetings discuss all kinds of issues relating to integration. (The various sub-circles maintain different meeting schedules, which can be found on the pages of these sub-circles.)
These meetings have the following structure: After a check-in-round, we first discuss the updates from the sub-circles and the working groups involved in integration. In this way, the main circle remains informed of the various processes and projects that are currently being worked on. After this we discuss the action points list. This list contains subjects of which a circle member is the tractor. We discuss progress on a point by point.* Following the action point list, the agendapoints will be discussed. These points can be suggested by our circle members but also certainly by people from outside the circle. We always end with a check-out.
* Both the updates and the action points are discussed every other week.
Would you like to attend a meeting? Then contact our integrator.
The contacts for the national integration circle can be reached via Mattermost.
